Finding Balance Between Holiday Season, Training and Being Sick... Ironman Ottawa - Week 2

The holiday season is always a busy time. It's hard to find a balance between gathering and training. And if you are sick, there is even less time to train! Check out the video below to see how I balance it all.




Monday, Dec 16 - Day 8:

Still sick, so I didn't do much other than rest.



Tuesday, Dec 17 - Day 9:

Strength training at lunch, then Bike Doctor: 1.5 hours of sweet spot ride in the evening. Still recovering, so taking all of it easy.





Wednesday, Dec 18- Day 10:

I didn't make it to training today. My car needed an oil change, and I needed it picked up during lunchtime. After work, the pups went for a swimming lesson. (Yep, my dogs go for swimming lessons, haha)







Thursday, Dec 19 - Day 11:

I'm feeling really grateful today! I taught a yoga class at the short-term mental health stay unit at the Royal University Hospital. When I was leaving, the snow was falling, and it was magical✨

Ending the day with 45mins VO2 Max bike before coaching the same workout and yoga to a great group of athletes.







Friday, Dec 20 - Day 12:

I did a strength workout before a swim speed and paddle workout. Three times the following; 3x50m fast followed by 150m steady, and then 3x50m steady with paddles. I got new paddles, and wow, that was that a workout! I really feel it with these paddles!




Saturday, Dec 21 - Day 13:

Saturday always feels like a mini multi-sport event for me. I taught a morning yoga class and then coached a private swim lesson (with an amazingly fast-learning 8-year-old!). The plan afterward was to go to the YMCA and see what my body felt like doing. Today, it was a 1000m steady swim followed by a 36-minute steady run on the treadmill.



Sunday, Dec 15 - Day 14:

Steady 1 hr bike ride. I found out there is a new season of Queer Eye on Netflix!


There are 33 weeks to go till Ironman Ottawa. Feeling pretty good about this.
